It all clicked

My name is Frank Vestjens. I’m 58 years old, married with four children, and I live in Asten. I’ve been part of Frontliners since 1996, back when the company was just beginning. Today, I’m the Lead Developer for our Windows applications, TransFusion and DCFusion. I work on everything from design to programming, delivery, maintenance, and support. It’s a role that lets me stay close to the product and the people who use it.

My journey to Frontliners started after completing an evening ICT degree alongside my previous job. At the graduation ceremony, I received an envelope full of vacancies. I applied to several companies, and one of them was Frontliners, a small, newly launched business at the time. The combination of challenge, potential, and the excitement of helping build something from the ground up convinced me to take the leap. Like many startups, we quite literally began in the owner’s garage.

The right tools for the right job

What I enjoy most about my work is solving puzzles, every day brings new challenges from our users, and finding efficient, customer-focused solutions keeps the work endlessly interesting. I also love working with “the right tools for the right job.” It gives me the freedom to broaden my skills and come up with solutions without being held back by limitations in technology.

What motivates me daily is the incredible variety in the work. No two days are the same. There’s always a new challenge that requires a fresh approach or a different perspective. And on the days when the solution doesn’t come easily, there’s always a colleague ready to brainstorm and help find the right direction. That sense of support makes all the difference.

One of the moments I’m most proud of came during my 25-year anniversary. It suddenly hit me that the software we create is used by thousands of people around the world. Businesses rely on it to earn millions, and our tools have become essential to the work they do. Realizing that something we build makes life easier for so many people made me incredibly proud. I hadn’t truly grasped the scale of that impact before.

This is a place where you can shape your own future

The culture at Frontliners is warm and supportive. People are open with each other and genuinely care, not just about the work, but about the person behind it. There’s space to grow in the direction that suits you best, whether that’s deepening your expertise or exploring new areas. There’s room for fun and relaxation, and when serious problems arise, we tackle them together with focus and commitment. We put our shoulders under it as a team to make the software a success for our users.

If you’re considering joining Frontliners, here’s what I’d say: this is a place where you can shape your own future. You take complex problems and turn them into simple, effective solutions for our users, using the latest techniques and tools. And when things don’t go as planned, there’s always someone ready to help you back on track. You’ll never be bored here, and alongside great work, there’s plenty of room for fun and moments to unwind.
